Community foundations have existed throughout the world for years in many community yet were new to Alaska when I joined the team. ACF needed to increase awareness of the complexity of its services to a statewide audience on a shoestring budget. I led the effort to establish a brand for the Foundation and create materials supporting that brand, including a website with online giving (relatively new at the time).
I also developed an annual communications plan that balanced the volunteer leadership requests with the available capacity on staff. Materials, communications counsel and support, and training for seven regional foundations within the state was also required. The challenge was to create a local identity while keeping the statewide identity intact.
